Activities and areas of intervention in Ethiopia
CCM is present in Ethiopia since 1998, implementing development and emergency interventions in two Zones of the Somali Region, Gode and Libaan and in Bale Zone of the Oromia Region.
CCM started its activities in Gode Zone, with food security and public health sector support projects, in some Woredas close to the Somalia borders, and also focusing its assistance to the nomadic part of the local population which is usually excluded, for different reasons, by the national and international developing and supporting programmes. CCM is adjusting an integrated strategy to approach the pastoralist communities through the provision of integrated human and animal health care, with the utilization of anthropological tools as the entry point of the nomadic society. CCM has been also running an EU funded micro-project on Human Rights for the nomadic population in Kelafo, a selected Woreda of the Gode Zone.
CCM has been also supporting the public human health services in Libaan Zone of Somali Region and it has just started an Emergency Obstetric Care three-year program in Bale Zone.
