Italy supports UNHCR and ICRC for humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia
The General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved two financial contributions to international organizations in Ethiopia, overall amounting to 1,3 million Euros, with the aim of assisting local vulnerable communities and refugees in the Country. WaSH Initiative in small and medium towns: Agreement signed
Addis Ababa – An official ceremony took place on May 7th at MoFED office, to sign a bilateral agreement between Ethiopia and Italy for the project “WASH in Small and Medium Towns”. Italy backs PSCAP implementation
On Friday 14th August 2009, the State Minister of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED), Ato Ahmed Shide, and the Ambassador of Italy in Ethiopia, H.E. Raffaele de Lutio, signed an Agreement for the allocation of 3 million Euros as Italian contribution to the “Public Sector Capacity Building Program (PSCAP)”. More >>

Renewed support to the leather sector in Ethiopia
On July 13th in Addis Ababa celebrations were held for the accreditation of the laboratories of the Ethiopian Leather and Leather Products Technology Institute (LLPTI), as well as for the launch of a new initiative supported by the Italian Government to further promote the sector development.

Italy and Ethiopia Sign new Cooperation Framework 2009-2011

Italy joins GEQIP through 15.3 million Euros contribution
GEQIP (General Education Quality Improvement Program) was lunched on March 14th, 2009, in Addis Ababa, with an official ceremony attended by the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, and representatives of all main involved donors.
Around 16 million students in primary and secondary schools as well as 225,000 teachers all over the Country are expected to benefit from the program, aimed at improving the quality of general education. More >>
