Minister Gianni Ghisi Concludes a Visit to Ethiopia
Addis Ababa - The Deputy General Director of the Italian Development Cooperation, Minister Gianni Ghisi, spent January 23rd – 28th visiting various projects and meeting with bilateral and multilateral officials.
The main reason for his visit was the Annual Review Meeting of the Country Program (1999-2001) and the bilateral agreement singed in Rome on November 17, 2004. More >>

Made in Ethiopia –Achieving the status of “Cool” in the International Fashion Market
Addis Ababa - The Made in Ethiopia project was launched on December 14th at the Sheraton Hotel in a form of a day long workshop on Product Development and Marketing for the Ethiopian Leather Industry. This activity, which is part of a United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO) project, is partly funded by the Italian Development Cooperation in order to help build the capacity of the leather industry to competitively export its products in the international market. EU Water Initiative: Ethiopian Water Supply and Sanitation Dialogue Launched
Addis Ababa – The EU Water Initiative Ethiopian Country Dialogue was launched on November 30th at the Italian Cultural Institute. The purpose of the launch day, which was organized by the Italian Development Cooperation and the Ministry of Water Resources, was to officially give a go ahead to the Country Dialogue in the presence of all stakeholders involved in the water sector and to give an overview of what is expected as the Dialogue process continues. Children Rights Workshop Held
Addis Ababa – A Children Rights workshop, organized by the Italian Development Cooperation, was held on November 25th at the Italian Cultural Institute. The workshop, titled “The Promotion of the Rights of the Child within the framework of the new National Plan of Action”, was designed to bring together people working in the Children Rights field and provide a forum for sharing experiences and best practices. Pictures from UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage & Diversity Campaign Released
In celebration of the homecoming of the Axum Obelisk and Ethiopian cultural heritage & diversity, UNESCO, together with the Italian Development Cooperation and other partners, launched a promotional campaign.
The campaign’s main objectives were to convey the rich Ethiopian cultural heritage & diversity, raise awareness, and present a positive image of the country both locally and internationally. More >>

Book Launching – “Documents for Wallaga History”
October 13th, 2005 - A book launching ceremony was held to celebrate “Documents for Wallaga History”, a book researched and authored by Dr. Tesema Ta’a and Professor Alessandro Triulzi. The book is based on five leather-bound legers of Amharic documents relating to the administrative, economic, social, and political history of Wallaga run by the Oromo rulers, Kumsaa Morodaa and his son Hambissa Kumsaa. Mekelle Nursing School Inaugurates a New Building
Mekelle, Tigray – On September 17th, 2005, a new building on the campus of the Mekelle Nursing School was inaugurated. This new addition to the campus was financed by Italian funds of 150,000 euros and will provide extra classrooms and office spaces, greatly expanding the capacity of the school.
The inauguration of the new building took place on the graduation day of seventy-nine healthcare students specializing in fields such as Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Midwifery. More >>
