Consistently with the international trend in the development cooperation sphere and with a clear need of the Country, more resources (about 30% of the new Country Programme) will be devoted to the development of the private sector.
In the area of leather, where Italy has traditionally been present for more than ten years, an initiative implemented by UNIDO has been approved in order to strengthen the clusters dedicated to the production of footwear, clothing and accessories.
We will also participate in a multi-donor initiative for the improvement of the investment environment and the access to credit both in the industry and agriculture areas.
Lastly, always for the private sector development, there might also be a future investment for the creation of agro-industrial parks and the strengthening of different value chains of agricultural products such as wheat and coffee.
