 June 6, 2006 New ACP-EU Energy Facility call for proposal
A new call for proposal of the ACP-EU Energy Facility for the indicative amount of €198M is scheduled to be launched by the European Commission on 19th June 2006. Proposals must be submitted by 19th September 2006.

The ACP-EU Energy Facility is a contribution under the EU Energy Initiative to increase access to energy services for the poor. More >>

 May 25, 2006 EU Water Facility Second Call for Proposal
In March 2004, the EU Council decided to consider allocating a total amount of € 500 million for an ACP-EU Water Facility, to be funded from the conditional €1 billion of the 9th EDF. The establishment of the ACP-EU Water Facility and its funding was endorsed by the ACP-EU Council of Ministers at its meetings in Gaborone in May 2004 and Luxemburg in June 2005. More >>

 March 23, 2006 Handing Over Ceremony for Goods Purchased with Italian Money Held
ADDIS ABABA – On March 23rd, 2006, a handing over ceremony for a variety of equipments and goods procured through Italian financing was held at the Federal Ministry of Health. The total value of these items is 21.4 million birr.

Some of the purchased items included 51 vehicles (pick ups, motorcycles, station wagons, mini buses, and ambulances); medical and non medical equipments such as x-ray machines, autoclaves, ultrasound and other diagnostic machines, surgical instruments, laboratory equipments, audiovisual machines and laundry appliances; books and blue trunk libraries.  February 19, 2006 “Dodoola Water Supply Scheme” Inaugurated.

Dodola, Oromia – On February 19th, the “Dodola Water Supply Scheme”, which is part of the Arsi Bale Project co-funded by the Italian Development Cooperation and the Government of Ethiopia, was inaugurated. The scheme supplies clean water to a total of a hundred twenty thousand people in the towns of Asasa, Dodola, and Herero, and twelve Peasant Associations located nearby. More >>

 February 17, 2006 Italian Exhibition on Ethiopia Opens in Rome
Rome, Italy – On Friday the 17th of February an exhibition showcasing the Italian Development Cooperation’s initiatives around the world opened at Vittoriano museum in Rome. A special section was dedicated to Ethiopia in the exhibition which will remain open until March 30th, 2006.

Visitors were welcomed at the entrance of the museum by a group of Ethiopian street children performing circus exercises. More >>

 January 28, 2006 Minister Gianni Ghisi Concludes a Visit to Ethiopia
Addis Ababa - The Deputy General Director of the Italian Development Cooperation, Minister Gianni Ghisi, spent January 23rd – 28th visiting various projects and meeting with bilateral and multilateral officials.

The main reason for his visit was the Annual Review Meeting of the Country Program (1999-2001) and the bilateral agreement singed in Rome on November 17, 2004. More >>
